Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce the title catalyst having a specific average pore diameter and high heavy oil hydrodesulfurization and denitrification performance by supporting oxides of VIb and VIII group metals on alumina and adding a boron cpd. to the alumina so that a specific amt. of B2O3 is contained, thus forming alumina-boria.
CONSTITUTION: On alumina are supported 8W25 wt% of oxides of VIb group metals such as Mo and W, and 1W8 wt% of oxides of VIII group metals such as Co and Ni. A boron cpd. such as boric acid is added to the alumina so that B2O3 is contained in an amt. of 2W10 wt% as Al2O3-B2O3, and then they are evaporated to dryness and calcined. The resulting catalyst has an average pore diameter of 100W150 Å and superior heavy oil hydro-desulfurization and denitrification performance.
