Abstract
PURPOSE:To minimize astigmatisms by forming the concave mirror of a Czerny- Turner type spectroscope to the drum type of a specified curvature. CONSTITUTION:Luminous flux through a slit S enters a spectral image plane P via concave mirror M1, plane diffraction grating G and imaging concave mirror M2. If the curvatures RH, RV of the section by the plane inclusive of the concave mirror M1 of said concave mirror M1 and grating G and the face perpendicular to said plane are so selected that the curvature RH becomes smaller than RV and of a specified value, then said concave mirror becomes the concave mirror M1 of drum type, thus the astigmatisms at the imaging plane P of the luminous flux reflected on the concave mirror M1 which is used in an off-axis state become minimum. As a result, even and distinct spectral line images may be entered to the sample at each wavelength.
