Abstract

PURPOSE: To highly accurately detect the minimum rotational angle by providing an optical image rotating element for shifting the optical image on the photosensitive surface of a light receiving element.
CONSTITUTION: Those portion of a photosensitive surface 15 or 16, which are and are not irradiated with an optical image L, have such a high ratio in resistances that the resistances of the surfaces 15 and 16 are determined only by the portion irradiated with the image L, i.e., the areas S1 and S2. When the image is turned an angle θ, the areas S1 and S2 are accordingly varied in a differential manner. Thus, the light receiving element 1 responds to the rotations of the image L to differentially vary the resistance of the two photosensitive surfaces made of a photoelectric substance so that it generates electric output signals according to the rotational angle θ of the image L.
