Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce the speaker diaphragm of low distortion rates and flat frequency characteristics by thermoforming the laminate of fabric or metal mesh and synthetic resin pulp layer at above the melting point of the latter. CONSTITUTION:A layer composed of synthetic resin pulp obtained by forming synthetic resins such as polyethylene, polyamide, etc. to short fibers and fibrillating the same is laminated on one or both surfaces of a base material such as fabric composed of fibers such as polyester, cotton or the like or glass fibers or the like or metal mesh or the like. The laminate is then hot pressed at above the melting temperature of the synthetic resin pulp by using desired speaker diaphragm molds, whereby the base material and synthetic resin pulp layer are fused. Equally good results may also be obtained by incorporating inorganic fibers such as carbon fibers, glass fibers or the like into the abovementioned resin pulp layer.
