Abstract

PURPOSE:To considerably reduce driving power of the switch, provided economically high effect and achieve miniaturization of driving device and eventually the miniaturization of the switch itself by setting magnetism and other driving point in the position including the minimum point of force. CONSTITUTION:In the mechanical optical fiber switch of multiports connecting one changeover optical fiber 1 and a multiplicity of optical fivers 9 thru 13 to be connected mutually with the V-groove structure of an inner case 14, a magnetic material 7 is added at the point of 2/3 from the fixing point 8 of the changeover optical fiber 1. The length of the changeover optical fiber 1 existing on the V-groove is kept at about 1/3 of the overall length and the magnetic material 7 is driven by magnets 2, 3, 15 thru 17, whereby connection by the V-groove structure is accomplished. With such structure, the switch may be driven by minimum force without giving any defomation to the outside shape of the optical fibers at all.
