Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the title composition with good characteristics inherent in nitrocellulose, capable of affording highly yellowing-resistant coating film, by incorporating a nitrocellulose-contg. acrylic lacquer with a small amount of a mixture consisting of a cyano compound and a metal salt of organic acid in a specific ratio.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition can be prepared by incorporating, preferably in a coating formulation step, (1) 100 parts by wt. of a nitrocellulose- contg. acrylic lacquer, with (2) 1 part by wt. of at least one sort of a cyano compound, as an ultraviolet light absorber, of formula I (R is alkyl) (e.g. a diphenylmethylene cyanoacetic alkyl ester), or of formula II (e.g. diphenylmethylene malononitrile), and (3) 0.1-0.6 parts by wt. of at least one sort of a metal salt of organic acid of formula III (R' is H, alkyl, phenyl, oralkyl-or alkoxy-substituted phenyl; M2+ is a divalent positive ion of a group II element, Sn, or Pb) (e.g. zinc formate, etc.).
