Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively cause the copy paper to separate with a small consumption of electric power by controlling the discharge start period of a corona charger for transfer and separation disposed in series, and utilizing the detachment of blank end of separating paper.
CONSTITUTION: When the white tip of transfer paper 9 reaches corona charger 6 for transfer disposed in series adjacent each other, high voltage electric power is applied to corona charger 7 for separation so as to start the corona discharge due to the charger 7. And when the forward tip of transfer paper 9 passes the charger 6 with its predetermined length, corona discharge of the charger 6 starts. Therefore the image is transferred on copy paper 9 by corona discharge of the charger 6 with the state of copy paper where no slack occurs owing to the curve resulting from the separation of copy paper from the photosensitive drum 1 caused by a small amount of corona discharge of the charger 7 when the tip of the copy paper 9 with the detachment property approaches the charger 7. In consequence, the good quality image is formed on the copy paper well separated with a small consumption of electric power.
