Abstract

PURPOSE:To stably, efficiently cool the reducing roll by a simple operation, by installing, in the cooling-water-guide arranged along the outer surface of work rolls, the cooling-water-header and the cooling-water-path connected by the flexible pipe joint. CONSTITUTION:The cooling-water-guide 6 is installed along the outer surface of the work roll 3, and the cooling-water-header 7 is formed in this cooling-water-guide 6 for storing the supplied cooling water. Both ends of this header 7 is elastically supported by the metal chock 5 of the work roll 3. The cooling water stored in the cooling-water-header 7 is sent from plural small holes 11 to the pocket 9 on the roll side 8 of the liner 8, through the pocket 10 and the cooling-water-injection-port 18; hereby, the cooling-water-guide 6 is floated up and the gap G is secured. The cooling water flows through this gap G at high speed absorbing the heat from the surface of the work roll 3, and is discharged. The cooling-water-header 7 and the cooling-water-path 16 are connected by the flexible bellows joint 15, so that the resetting work of the cooling-water-guide 6, at rearranging work for rolls, can be performed simply and rapidly.
