Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a YAlO:Ce fluorescent substance with enhanced luminous intensity by weighing starting raw materials so that the ratio of the number of Al ions and the total number of Y and Ce ions contained in the raw materials becomes blow 1, followed by mixing and calcination at a specific temp.
CONSTITUTION: The ratio of Al/(Y+Ce) in the above raw material mixt. is regulated to below 1, pref. 0.95W0.65, and the mixt. is calcined at 1100W1400°C to produce a YAlO:Ce fluorescent substance. At this time, the concn. range of Ce added as an activator is pref. 0.01W5 mol% in the same way as the case of a usual Ce-activated fluorescent substance. The substance obtd. by this method is capable of enhancing its luminous intensity considerably.
