Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a dielectric porcelain which is high in dielectric constant and no-load and has a high temperature strength at resonance frequency and is appropriate to a dielectric resonator for microwaves, by mixing BaO, ZnO, MgO, Nb2O5 and Ta2O5 at a specific ratio.
CONSTITUTION: Starting materials, which are BaCO3, ZnO, MgO, Nb2O5 and Ta2O5, are mixed with one another in a wet manner and then dried. Thereafter, the mixture is calcined at a temperature of 1100°C under the air for 2 hours. The calcined mixture is pulverized in a wet manner. The pulverized paste is dried and then molded to a disc of 25 mm in diameter by pressure of 700 kg/cm2. This disc is baked at a temperature of 550°C under the air for 2 hours, thereby producing the dielectric porcelain represented by a general formula w(3BaO.ZnO.Nb2O5)- x(3BaO.ZnO.Ta2O5)-y(cBaO.MgO.Nb2O5)-z(3BaO.MgO.Ta2O5)wherein each of w, x, y and z is within a range from 0.01 to 0.97 and w+x+y +z=1.
