Abstract

PURPOSE: To accomplish inexpernsive and simple treatment of waste liquids without labor while eliminating various associated treatment equipment through precimitation of metallic copper on palladium which has adsorbed activated charcoal and been introduced into a waste liquid containing.
CONSTITUTION: A granular activated charcoal is put into a stainless screen cage with a mesh of 150 to 200. Then, the cage is immersed in a liquid containing 500 ml/1 of hydrochloric acid, 20 g/1 of palladium cdhloride and 50 g/1 tin chloride (I) ar room temperature for 3 to 5 minutes. The cage thus treated is withdrawn from the liquid and washed with tap water. The pH of a copper ion-containing waste liquid such as plating bath and etching bath is adjusted to 6 to 8. Then, the cage is put into the liquid thus pH-controlled with a palladium-adsorped activated charcoal controlled at a rate of 20g/1. The cage is allowed to stand until blue of the copper ion in the liquid disappears. Immdiately, the cage is lifted up from the liquid.
