Abstract

PURPOSE: The polymerization of olefins is conducted in the presence of a specifically treated titanium coatalyst and an organoaluminum compound to produce improved polymers with high mechanical properties and good moldability free from corrosion of extruders and clogging of screens.
CONSTITUTION: Tetramethoxysilane and the like shown as the formula (R1, R2 are alkyls) is crashed together with magnesium chloride. The resulting mixture is incorporated simultaneously with a titanium halide as titanium tetrachloride and a compound with M-O linkages (M is Si, P and others) as ethyldiethylphosphinite and they are treated at 20W120°C. Then the product is washed with an inert solvent as toluene to obtain the solid component. The polymerization of propylene is conducted in the presence of the resulting solid component and an organoaluminum compound as triethylaluminum to produce objective olefinic polymers.
