Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the title polymer without eliminating the residual catalyst, giving a molded article having excellent whiteness and mechanical strength, by the use of a catalyst comprising a solid component obtained by the reaction of a specific Si-containing reaction product with a titanium compound, etc., and an organo- aluminum compound.
CONSTITUTION: A hydropolysiloxane of formula I (R1 is alkyl, etc.; a is 0-2; b is 1-3; a+b is ≤3), e.g. tetramethyldisiloxane, is made to react with a Grignard reagnet, and solvents are removed from the reaction mixture to obtain a product, which is made to react with a silicon halide (derivative) of formula II (R2 is 1-8C alkyl; X is halogen; c is 0-3), e.g. silicon tetrachloride, and further react with a titanium halide (derivative), e.g. TiCl4, at 90-140°C, and finally the reaction product is treated with an organic acid ester such as methyl benzoate, etc., to obtain a solid component.
