Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the size and efficiently exchange heat, by perpendicularly inserting heat pipes through a horizontal partition plates to form a cylindrical heat exchange portion and opening inlet ports and outlet ports through the upper, lower and side surfaces of the heat exchange portion.
CONSTITUTION: The heat exchange portion 1 has twelve heat exchange units 71W712 separated from one another by spacers 6 of triangular cross section. The cross section of the heat exchange portion 1 is polygonal. Each heat exchange unit 7 has a frame consisting of side plates 8, an upper plate 9, a lower plate 10 and a partition plate 11a and open at its front and rear and has a plurality of heat pipes 13 having fins 12 and fitted in the partition plate 11a. A casing 2 contains the heat exchange portion 1 and has in its upper side an exhaust port 2a to discharge heated air and in its lower side an intake port 2b to take in high-temperature gas. Another intake port 2c and another exhaust port 2d are opened through the peripheral side of the casing.
