Abstract
PURPOSE: To remove hydrogen sulfide and ammonia in high-temperature coal gas effectively without troubles due to tar formation and the mecessity of external heat sources, by removing hydrogen suflide and ammonia together with tar.
CONSTITUTION: The crude gas 1 at the outlet of the gasifier is fed to the tar removal device 31, where tar content is condensed and collected by alumina particles and the temperature of the gas 1 is cooled and controlled at a temperature suitable for removing hydrogen sulfide. The gas 1 is then passed through the conduit 2 to the desulfurizer 34, brought into contact with iron oxide or particles containing iron oxide fluidally, and hydrogen sulfide is removed by the reaction with iron oxide to form the crude gas 3 after desulfurization. The gas 3, which is heated to a temperature suitable for ammonio decomposition by obsorbing the heat of combustion of tar through the heat transmission pipe 37, is fed to the ammonia decomposer 36 to remove the ammonia, thus forming the clean gas 5.
