Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the life expectancy of a compressor, by tapering the inner surface of its cylinder. CONSTITUTION:The inner surface of a cylinder 1 is tapered with the lower dead point 1b being samller than the upper dead point la in diameter. The gap between the cylnder 1 and a piston ring 3 draws near to zero at around the upper dead point 1a of the cylinder 1, which almost eliminates gas leak, and becomes larger at around the lower dead point 1b, which minimizes the friction loss of the piston ring 3, thus extending the life of the compressor.
