Abstract

PURPOSE:A driving shaft is extended out a belt-passing rolling-line. On the extended shaft, measuring instruments for torque and oscillating angle are installed, thereby effecting a high-precision detection of a stand-to-stand tension at a far location from the rolling-line. CONSTITUTION:A driving shaft 13 is extended from a rolling line where a strip 9 passes between rolling mills 1 and 2. On the driving shaft 13, measuring instruments 14, 18, for torque 14 and oscillating angle 18 are installed. Outputs of the measuring instruments are inputted into a tension-calculator 20 and converted into a tension value. A tension-setter 21 stores a defined strip tension value preliminarily calculated from rolling speed, strip temperature, reductions of both stands and the like. Both outputs from the tension-calculator 20 and tension setter 22 are inputted into a comparator 22. If difference is found, a servo-valve 23 actuates an oil pressure cylinder 8 to effect vertical motion of roller 3, through a lever 6, shafts 13, 16 and a lever 4, so as to establish a predetermined value of the strip 9 tension.
