Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to maintain the paper feeding condition the most proper at all times and to simply and easily accomplish the supply of recording paper by accomplishing the level detection in high accuracy without obstructing the paper separating operation with the use of a separating pawl, to which a detecting lever mechanism is jointed.

CONSTITUTION: The leading edge of recording paper to be supplied is brought into abutment against the inner side of the side plate 20 of a carriage 31 of a paper feed table 100 extracted from a copying apparatus, and the paper feed table 100 is placed below separating pawls 32 and 34 at the both corners and then pushed into the body of the copying apparatus until it takes the paper feeding position. When a carriage elevating motor is turned forward, the carriage 31 is elevated so that the uppermost recording paper abuts against the separating pawls 32 and 34 at its both corners so that they are rocked about a shaft 33. Since a light emitting element 35 and a light receiving element 36 are shielded, the rise of the carriage 31 is stopped so that the recording paper on the carriage 31 is fed out one by one by the paper feed rollers 52 and 60 in accordance with the depression of a printing button.
