Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a polyolefin molded article having desired flame-retardancy, stably, by mixing and extrusion molding a master batch of flame retardant containing a halogen-containing flame-retardant, and a silyl-modified polyolefin.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A silyl-midified polyolefin obtained by the heat reaction of a polyolefin with a silane compound and a radical generator, and (B) a master batch of flame-retardant prepared by mixing a polyolefin, a halogen-containing flame- retardant, a flame-retarding assistant, and a siloxane condensation catalyst, are mixed together at a ratio to meet with the required flame-retardancy, and the mixture is extrusion molded and simultaneously reacted by heating. The molded article thus obtained is crosslinded by contacting with water. Larger amount of the flame-retardant can be mixed to the master batch, by using a low-crystalline polyolefin as the base polymer of the master batch.
EFFECT: Inhibition of the reaction and early crosslinking at the silane-graft reaction, are prevented, and a composition having high gel-fraction and free from scorch can be obtained.
