Abstract
PURPOSE: An aqueous solution of water soluble Zr compound and water soluble Ti compound is mixed with water soluble tungstate salts and reacted together. The process prevents hydrolysis of water soluble Ti compound and provides W- Ti-Zr ternary oxide catalyst having an excellent catalytic activity.
CONSTITUTION: Preliminary aqueoud solution is prepared by dissolving water soluble Zr compound (e.g. ZrOCl2-8H20) and water soluble Ti compound (e.g. TiCl4). The solution is then mixed with water soluble tungstate salts (e.g.Na2 WO4.2H20) or its aqueous solution and reacted together, generally at ambient temperature under atomospheric pressure. The formed hydrogel is washed and dried, as required, or alternatively heated either in the presence or absence of reducing gas to provide ternary W-Ti-Zr oxide catalyst. This catalyst can be widely used in hydration reaction of olefine and etherification reaction by alcohol dehydration.
