Abstract

PURPOSE: For complete elmination of scale eaves, first scale is throughly removed by sequential apparatus arranged in such a way that, a first scale removing water cooling apparatus in heat furnace outlet site for treating heated steel material, followed by a high pressure jetting descaler, and a final heat rolling machine.
CONSTITUTION: At outlet side of each heating furnace 1, 2, 3 and 4, cooling sprays 8a-8e are aranged for removing scale of each steel material. Cooling spray is applied within about 15 seconds to slabs exited from the furnace while the surface temperature of slab scale is about 1050°C. Such a rapid cooling condition at high temperature causes effective floating of scale from the surface. This facilitates complete scale removal by high pressure jet water from a descaler 5, thereby contributing the process of crude roll mill 6 to provide rolled products completely free of scale eaves.
