Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the electric reliability of the gas discharge panel by covering the surface of the Al electrode with the heat-resisting insulator film prior to formation of the low fusing-point sealing material layer.
CONSTITUTION: Conductor layer 2 to be an electrode is formed on insulating substrate 1, and then low fusing-point material layer 7 is formed at the periphery of the substrate to assemble the panel through a heat treatment. The surface of the Al electrode is covered with heat-resisting insulator film 3 after formation of conductor layer 2 composed of Al with the fixed electrode pattern on substrate 1 and before formation layer 7. Thus, the electric reliability can be enhanced for the gas discharge panel. Also, dielectric layer 4 of Al2O3 is evaporated in lamination on insulating oxide film 3 of Al2O3 after the temporary burning of layer 7, and furthermore protective layer 5 of MgO is formed through evaporation.
