Abstract
PURPOSE: To select and separate effectively heavy block substances and light substances by use of kinetic energy differences therebetween at the time when scrap drops on an inclined guide member in a passage.
CONSTITUTION: Scrap crushed by a crushing machine 1 is introduced to a separation unit by means of a conveyor 2. Light magnetic substances such as iron pieces are separately intoduced to a receiver 13 side by means of a magnetic separator 12 at the head of the conveyor 2. Other substances drop from a dropping section 4 onto the upper surface of an inclined guide member 5. Heavy block substances jump adead with force because of large kinetic energies and large coefficients of repulsion, flyng out of screening members 8, 8, ... , and being received by a receiver 10. The remaining substances are surely introduced to a light substance-receiver 11 by air injected through a nozzle 15, and are separated.
