Abstract

PURPOSE: To suitably coat developer without using any blade by specifying the surface roughness and contact pressure of both feed and coating rollers.
CONSTITUTION: The mean surface roughness of a feed roller 1 which is covered with a non-porous elastic material of good surface finishes is made 3μRa or under and the mean surface roughness of a coating roller 2 at 0.5 to 1.6μRa respectively, and both rollers 1, 2 are made pressure-contactable through pressure roller 13 under a suitable pressure. Then, at the driving of the developing device, an arm 16 is turned with force P and the pressure, coating and feed rollers 3, 2, 1 are mutually pressure contacted by way of the pressure roller 13, after which the coating roller 2 revolves and excess volume of the developer 12 having been scooped up by the feed roller 1 is adjusted to a slight volume in the contact parts of both rollers 1, 2, then part of the developer evenly remains on the surface of the coating roller 2 and is evenly transferred onto photosensitive paper. If a liquid removing member 19 is provided at the protruding end part of the feed roller 1, the developer 12 having gone to the back side of the coating roller 2 is removed.
