Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable transportation of slurry while economically and exactly lowering pressure loss and eritical settling flowing velocity by transporting the mixture of slurry with non-settling fine particles through a conduit.
CONSTITUTION: When slurry is transported through a conduit, non-settling fine particles such as, for example, woody clay can be mixed with the slurry. It can thus lower effectively the pressure loss and settling critical flowing velocity of the slurry and accordingly reduce the necessary power and conduit friction at slurry transporting time. In this case, when the volumetric density of the clay is 5 to 6%, the pressure loss and critical flowing velocity exhibit minimum values. The same effect can be obtained by fine particles forming slurry of uniformly and statically stable suspension such as, for example, limestone fine powder partilces or the like in addition to the clay.
