Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the bolt on an electrode surface so as to make it possible to effect stably for a long term the flow metering operation of a liquid, which contains much foreign substances such as sludges or pulp waste, by diluting or dissolving the contaminated liquid in the vicinity of an electrode.
CONSTITUTION: A fluid to be metered flows through a pipe having a lining 4, whereupon its flow rate can be metered by the use of the potential which is generated between a pair of electrodes 6. The electrodes 6 are formed at their center with a through hole 13, into which clean water 11 is continuously injected through a conduit 10 so that the sludge in the vicinity of the electodes contacting with the liquid to be metered is automatically and continuously diluted. Thus, the sludge can be prevented from sticking to the electrode surface, and the insulating film formation is effectively prevented so that the elongated stable performance and the remarkable reduction in maintenance can be effectively obtained.
