Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the title plating bath assuring plating not inferior to that of a cyanogen type gold alloy plating bath by adding potassium thiocyanate to a bath contg. a non-cyanogen type gold cpd. and two or more kinds of non-cyanogen type cpds. of Pb, Ag, Ni and Cu.
CONSTITUTION: In a non-cyanogen type gold alloy plating bath, a complex salt of gold cpd. is very unstable and decomposed by heating or addn. of acid for pH regulation, whereby gold is easily reduced, exerting bad influence on plating deposits. So, potassium thiocyanate is added to a plating bath contg. a non-cyanogen type gold cpd. and two or more kinds of non-cyanogen type cpds. of Pb, Ag, Ni and Cu. The thiocyanate acts as complexing agent, has a good effect as electrically conductive salt and a brightening action, and stabilizes the gold complex salt. Thus, a plating bath can be obtd. having very good corrosion resistance, preventing reduction of gold, and elongating its life.
