Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform reproduction with stationary heads without recording any reproduction reference signal to separate tracks by letting the reproduction signals of the non-signal part of the 1H period at the reproducing of the recording signal having undergone time axis expansion be the write signals to time-axis converting charge transfer devices.

CONSTITUTION: Video signals of a 1H period are subsequently written to and read from charge transfer devices 25₁... via ring counter 21 in synchronization with the highspeed and low speed pulses of clock pulse generators 7, 8. The video signals having undergone time-axis expansion are recorded in a recording medium by reading out of these via heads 29₁... These records are reproduced with heads 29₁... reproduction circuits 30₁... and the non-signal parts of 1H period contained in the reproduced waveforms are detected with detection circuits 31₁... When the reproduction video signals having been written in the devices 25₁... with said period being synchronized as a high speed clock period with a low speed clock, are read in synchronization with the high speed clock then they become the restored video signals, having undergone time-axis compression, thus the recording and reproducing of the video signals may be performed by using the sta tionary heads without recording any reproduction reference signal in separate tracks.
