Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a color picture tube excellent in color purity and high in bright ness by forming a constant-thickness and fine fluorescent screen without hole by applying an ultrasonic wave for a certain time after forming the fluorescent film by a slurry method.
CONSTITUTION: A slurry with constant specific gravity and viscosity is rotation- applied onto the pannel inside surface and made familiar over the entire surface, and an excessive slurry is caused to flow away from four corners of the panel through the high-speed rotation to obtain the desired film thickness. Then, dry-type ultrasonic-wave electrodes are made in contact with both the sides of the panel and ultrasonic waves are applied at 10 to 30 KHz for 10 to 60 seconds (optimum time is decided by carrying out the experiment). In this way, ultrasonic waves are applied while the fluorescent film is formed by a slurry method to a desired thickness and still wet, fluorescent-substance particles steady start vibrating finely to make the coating thickness constant, and fluorescent-substance particles are trapped even where no particles reside, so that the fine fluorescent film without aperture can be obtained.
