Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a settling and separating apparatus for filthy water treating tank, in which its sedimentation chamber is separated by a partition plate which is arranged to be movable in vertical direction and is formed with a number of apertures through which water can pass, and outlet and inlet of a transport pipe is disposed at suitable places in said chamber, whereby it is enabled to make an efficient use of the space of said chamber, without closing the inlet of the transport pipe.

CONSTITUTION: In accordance with one arrangement of this apparatus, outlet 5 of water supply pipe 4 is opened downwardly of partition plate 2 in sedimentation chamber 1, whereas, in accordance with another arrangement, it is opened upwardly of the partition plate 2. In the former case, filthy water is introduced from outlet of pipe 4 to the portion in chamber 1 located downwards of partition plate 2. The partition plate 2 is arranged to be movable vertically while being kept borizontal by means of slide hole 10 formed centrally of the plate 2, and it is formed with a number of small holes 3, through which only water is allowed to pass but solied matters is not allowed to pass, so that water in sewage is urged upward through the plate 2 and carried through transport pipe 6, whereas solid matters are compressed. In the latter case, on the other hand, a partition plate of material having a specific gravity smaller than that of sewage is used, so that solid matters A are collected upwardly of the plat 2 and only water is passed through the plate 2 and carried to the outside.
