Abstract
PURPOSE: To measure flow rates automatically and further make possible automatic controlling of flow rates by installing a heat pulse generator and a temperature detector on the way of a carrier gas feed piping and detecting the deviation of the signals from both.
CONSTITUTION: A filament heater 2 is mounted at the center on the upper stream of carrier gas piping 1 and heat pulses are applied from a heat pulse generator. A temperature sensing element 3 is mounted to the center on the lower stream of the piping 1 by leaving a fixed spacing L from the heater 2. The mark having been attached to the substantial portion of the carrier gas with the heat having been applied to the carrier gas as temperature unevenness moves toghether with the flow of the carrier gas and is detected with the element 3. The arithmetic unit connected to the heat pulse generator and detector measures the time when the mark moves the distance L and at the same time calculates the mean velocity of its movement. The flow rate having been converted is displayed in a display device.
