Abstract

PURPOSE: In metal powder production, a crucible-type induction furnace is used for metal vaporizing process so as to effect energy cost reduction, facilitated operation control and continuous production of high-grade metal powder.
CONSTITUTION: Metal powder production system uses a curcible-type induction furnace having a water-cooled primary coil which is wound outside periphery of cylindrical furnace container, where metal is directly heated and melted by eddy current induced within conducting material charge in the container. In operation. raw metal is charged through an inlet 1 and melted in a melting furnace 2, then, overflowed to be delivered an induction furnace 6 through a conduit 5. Metal vapor is produced by induction furnace heating, which vapor passes through a vapor pipe 7 and reaches a condenser 8 where the vapor is cooled to form metal powder. Such process that utilize cruicible-type induction furnace reduces energy cost, eliminates the need of waste gas treatment apparatus, allows the compactness of installation and facilitates controlled operation
