Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a rocker arm, which hasss improved wear resistance and also has a property of causing no wear to the counterpart member, by bonding an iron- nickel alloy rocker pad formed by chilled casting of particular components to the rocker arm body.
CONSTITUTION: The rocker arm has an iron-nickel alloy rocker pad 2 formed by chilled casting of a particular composition with respect to the rocker arm body 1. The pad 2 is bonded by solder to the body 1. It is a chilled casting obtained from a composition consisting of 0.1 to 1.5 weight % carbon, 6 to 10 weight % silicon, 0.5 to 1.5 weight % boron, 2 to 8 weight % chromium and 35 to 55 weight % nickel, the rest being iron. With this construction, it is possible to improve the wear resistance of the rocker arm itself and also provide for very excellent advantages with respect to the counterpart material
