Abstract
PURPOSE: A crosslinked organic polymer having improved adhesiveness to metals, manufactured by treating the surface of a crosslinked organic polymer having siloxane bonds with an ionc reagent.
CONSTITUTION: A crosslinked organic polymer having siloxane bonds is treated with an ionic reagent, e.g. sodium and barium hydroxides, nitric and hydrochloric acids. Polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride, polyester, etc. may be cited as the polymer. The reason why the thermal adhesiveness can be improved by the surface treatment is probably that the fluidity is increased by the dissociation of siloxane bonds in the surface layer of molded article when the ionic reagent is a base. On the other hand, the reason is probably that the fluidity is increased by the breaking of organic polymer main chain and the bonding force is increased by the formation of polar group, e.g. carbonyl group, etc. when the ionic reagent is an acid
