Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the strength, disintegrating time, and dissolving rate of basis, of tablets prepared from a composition containing a slightly water-soluble basis and β-1, 4-glucan by wet-tabletting process, by adding a water-soluble polymer solution to the composition.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture of a slightly water-soluble powdery basis and a proper amount of additive mainly composed of β-1, 4-glucan, is mixed with 0.5W10%, pref. 1W3% aqueous solution of a water-soluble polymer such as methyl cellulose, and stirred to give a solution in which the above powdery mixture dissolves at almost saturated concentration, e.g. saturation x 0.7W0.9. The mixture is pelletized, dired at 30W90°C, pref. 40W60°C, to granules of a water-content of 0.5W2%, and formed to tablets by compression molding
