Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide laser process, wherein plasmas produced by the laser process are removed from a path of laser beam using an inert gas such as argon gas or helium gas, and the amount of the plasmas are detected to controll an output of the laser. CONSTITUTION:A condensed laser beam 1 from a laser 19 passes through a nozzle 2 for welding and irradiates a work 4 to conduct welding. A steam generated from a molten pool 5 is removed such that a gas 18 from a vessel 21 containing the inert gas is caused to flow through a side nozzle 17 to a space between the nozzle 2 and the molten pool 5, in this case, light of plasmas which will be generated from the steam due to unsufficient removal thereof is detected by a light receiving element 8 through a filter 6 to be recognized as electrical signals which will be compared with standard values to controll the laser.
