Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the desulfurization yield of CaC2 by mixing a CaC2 type dusulfurizing agent with a mixt. of Al ash and carbon as a desulfurization accelerator. CONSTITUTION:30-90wt% of finely divided CaC2 is mixed with 70-10wt% of a mixt. of Al ash and carbon. The Al ash is fine powder of 250mu or below contg. Al2O3, F2, etc. other than at least 60% of Al and the carbon is fixed carbon rich, finely divided coke, coal, graphite, etc. of 210mu or below. The mixing ratio of the Al ash:carbon is 90-65%:10-35%. When hot iron is desulfurized with the resulting desulfurizing agent, desulfurization rate can be enhanced without increasing the CaC2 content. Accordingly, desulfurization cost is reduced and unreacted CaC2 is not left in slag, previnting generation of C2H2.
