Abstract

PURPOSE:To rolling mill line for billet, bar, wire, etc., which performs a high drawing capability given by controlling the rolling rate of rolling mill line to less than strip limit determined by a relation between rolling rate and contact angle. CONSTITUTION:The aperture between each roll is set so that the first stand 11 has the contact angle <=tan<-1>mu and the second stand 21 has the contact angle >=tan<-1>mu. The third stand 31 is a pivot stand, when the steel to be rolled cuts into the first stand 11, a steady-state current is detected by the detector 12 and then is memorized by the memory 13. And, when the steel to be rolled cuts into the second stand 21 and the certain current value is reached, the current value is detected and then compared with a current value previously memorized to control the roll rotation number of the first stand 11 and to produce a non-tension and non-compression state. The same control is made for between the stands 21 and 31. The use of this system enables one to reduce the number of rolling mills and thus to perform high efficiency rolling.
