Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent formation of an L-chamber on a strip after it was rolled by changing an offset amounts of axes of both work rolls of dissimilar diameter in the rolling direction and an angle of bending of the strip at an outlet side of a rolling mill, in rolling the strip by said work rolls.
CONSTITUTION: To cold rolling a strip by work rolls of dissimilar diameters of large-and small sized, pinch rolls or idle rolles consisted of upper-and lower rolls are provided at an outlet side of a rolling mill. A mechanism displacing this pair of rolls in the direction having a vertical component to the direction of rolling is provided to the pinch rolls or the idle rolls. By this mechanism, a strip is allowed to make a needed direction and a needed amount of bend at the outlet side of the rolling mill, and, at the same time, the direction and the offset amounts of the axis of the work roll of smaller size and the axis of the work roll of larger size in the rolling direction are allowed to change. Thus, the formation of an L-chamber on the strip after it was rolled is prevented.
