Abstract
PURPOSE: To make possible high speed switching and make light emission source one by performing optical branching with a light branching means and a light control means.
CONSTITUTION: One end of optical fibers 14 is constituted as an optical fiber bundle 13 and a photo switch 15 connected to a power source 21 is disposed in a branching fiber 19 group. Then, the laser light from a light emission source 11 such as semiconductor laser or solid laser is paralleled by a lens 12, after which the parallel beams are radiated to the entire surface of the section at one end of the optical fiber bundle 13, by which they are branched to the number corresponding to the number of the optical fibers 14, thence the beams are introduced into the photo switch 15. Their emission is controlled by the electric field being applied to the electrode 16C while passing through the optical guide 16b. Hence, high speed switching or high speed light modulation is made possible. Particularly, by using bismuth silicon oxide single crystal for the photo switch 15, much higher speed becomes possible
