Abstract

PURPOSE:To automatically detect the remaining quantity of toner by providing a pair of opposing electrodes within a toner tank and detecting the current flowing between the electrodes. CONSTITUTION:Partition plates 3, 4 are mounted between side plates 1, 2 and a magnetic brush 6 is disposed in the lower part thereof, by which the toner tank 17 of the developing device is formed. Insulation blocks 11, 12 are further provided to the toner tank 17 of this construction and electrode plates 13, 14 are bridged between the insulation blocks and are so mounted that the face portions mutually oppose and become perpendicular. The electrodes are connected electrically to a current detection circuit 19, buzzer driving circuit 20, buzzer 21. Hence, the quantity of the toner 18 in the tank is detected by the current flowing in the abovementioned circuits and is alarmed by the buzzer, whereby troubles occuring in the shortage of toner may be automatically prevented.
