Abstract

PURPOSE: To vary the capacity of a nozzleless turbine by rotatably constructing the end of the wall surface at the movable blade side of the superimposed wall of the turbine around the axis of the direction crossing the wall surface.
CONSTITUTION: In a nozzleless turbine for supplying work fluid to the movable blades 20 through a volute casing 10 having a duct-like volute inlet 12, a volute vortex portion 13 including a section partially opened toward the blades 20 at the inside, and volute tongues 11 of the boundary wall between the inlet 12 and the portion 13 at the ends of the inlet 12 and the portion 13, a movable tongue 14 is provided on the extended line of the tongues 11 to rotate at suitable angle θ around the shaft 14A provided in the direction crossing the wall surface of the tongues 11 through the front wall of the casing 10 to thereby vary the area of the general volute throat by rotating the tongue 14 to thus vary the capacity of the turbine
