Abstract
PURPOSE: To decrease the themal stress of a nozzle box by installing a heat shielding plate which covers the outside of the nozzle box, on the outside wall of the nozzle box, keeping a gap between the outside wall surface.
CONSTITUTION: The nozzle inlet steam flow 2 flows into rotor blades 11a and 11b through nozzles 3a and 3b in the opposite directions, and the rotor blade steam flow 5b having flowed down on the rotor blade 11b in one step forms inverted flow, and joins with leaked steam flow 8b to form steam chamber outside wall steam flow 9b, and said flow is changed to the steam in low temperature in high flow speed and flows along the nozzle box outside walls 4a and 4b to the low pressure side. As a heat shielding plate 16 is arranged on the nozzle box outside walls 4a and 4b, the nozzle box 4 is heat-insulated without being cooled by steam flow 9b. Leaked steam flow 8a flows into a desk pace 20 to form steam chamber outside wall steam flow 9a but the nozzle box 4 is protected by the heat-shielding plate 16. Thus, the temperature difference between the inside and outside walls of the nozzle box 4 can be reduced, and also the thermal stress can be reduced
