Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a hot iron desulfurizing agent obtd. by mixing quick lime with predetermined amts. of stearic acid (salts) and magnesium fluoride, and grinding the mixt. to a certain grain size range.
CONSTITUTION: 100 parts by wt. of quick lime are mixed with 0.5W1 part of stearic acid or its salts and 3W10 parts of magnesium fluoride. The mixt. is then ground so that minus 200 mesh grains occupy more than 80wt%. By spraying the resulting desulfurizing agent, a large amt. of hot iron in a torpedo car can be desulfurized rapidly and efficiently. Since a small amt. of this agent is enough to use, it is economical.
