Abstract
PURPOSE: An organic sufonic acid or sulfate ester is nutralized with magnesium hydroxide or oxide in the presence of a specific stabilizing agent to give a magnesium salt used for the base material of liquid detergent forming no precipitation.
CONSTITUTION: In the presence of at least one stabilizing agent selected from ethylene-diaminetetraacetic acid, nitrotriacetic acid, tartaric acid, gluconic acid, oxalic acid, or their sodium salts, or maleic anhydride, are neutralized an organic sulfonic acid, or sulfate ester in an aqueous medium with magnesium hydroxide or oxide to produce an organic sulfonic acid magnesium salt or sulfate ester magnesium salt that prevents the coagulation of the colloidal suspension when it is used in a liquid detergent composition. The amount of the stabilizing agent is 0.1W20 parts by wt per 100 parts of magnesium oxide or hydroxide calculated as MgO.
