Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce a filter easily and inexpensively, while ensuring the high accuracy, by forming a preset portion having a preset low refractive index on a waveguide film which in turn is formed with a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A substrate 11 of Vycor glass, which has a refractive index of n1 for the wavelength lambda of a waveguide light 12, is formed with a waveguide film 2 of glass having a refractive index of n2. The substrate 11 is used as a first cladding layer, and air of a refractive index n3=1.000, which exist on the film 2, is used as a second cladding layer.
