Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain printed matter of always highest quality by covering the surface of a metering roller with hydrophilic material, electrically detecting the water film deposited and formed on the surface to measure the water contents in ink and automatically correcting the rate of water feed.
CONSTITUTION: Since the surface of a metering roller 14 is covered with hydrophilic material, water contents are separated from the ink deposited on the metering roller 14, forming a water film on the surface. This water film produces an electric resistance between contactors 16 as it has conductivity. This resistance between the contactors 16 changes the balance of a bridge part 40, then the potential difference from an auxiliary power source 43 enters a water volume regulating part 41, where it is compared with the preset value and the output thereof is transmitted to a relay drive part 42. In the relay drive part 42, this signal is amplified to operate or stop the relay and send the signal to a water feed regulating mechanism 20, which in turn varies the contact timing of a water ductor 9 and distributing roller 5 thereby regulating the rate of water feed.
