Abstract
PURPOSE: To facilitate the detection of failed arrester by containing an indicating cloth in areester and performing the indication through said cloth at the failure of arrester.
CONSTITUTION: An electrode 3 having discharging gap G and a gas generating compound 9 are tightly located in parallel with said electrode 3 in the inner space formed by outer casing 1 and inner cover 4, while tubular resistor 10 having negative non-linear resistance characteristic and indicating cloth 6 are contained. When an arrester fails to flow the leakage current, the tubular resistor 10 is heated gradually and fired when exceeding over the firing temperature of gas generating compound 9 to eject the inner cover 4 through the produced gas pressure. The earth line 17 is bent more than 90° at the midway by the force for ejecting the inner cover 4, thereby the indicating cloth is fallen by the electrode 3' and the weight 7. Consequently failed arrester can be detected.
