Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the title compound useful as antibacterials in high yield with an increased volume efficiency and short reaction time industrially advantageously, by reacting a tri-(1-imidazolyl)-phosphine with a triphenylmethanol.
CONSTITUTION: One mole of a tri-(1-imidazolyl)-phosphine of formula I: (R1, R2, and R3 are H, 1W8C alkyl, 1W8C alkenyl groups, etc.) is reacted with 1/3 mole or more, preferably 2/3W2 moles, of a triphenylmethanol having phenyl groups which may be substituted by halogen, alkoxy, or lower alkyl group) in the presence or absence of a solvent, e.g. acetonitrile or chloroform, at room temperature or under warming to give a 1-triphenylmethylimidazole.
EFFECT: The raw material is not unstable or expensive, and the reaction does not require high temperature or solvents particularly.
