Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect a failure in the transistor element of an inverter circuit by detecting the presence or absence of a change by comparing the DC side voltage and the AC side voltage of the inverter circuit and by taking their difference or ratio.
CONSTITUTION: When a thyristor element of inverter circuit 3 is broken down, or when there is a commutation failure, the waveform of voltage eo detected at AC side voltage detector 12 partly differs from the waveform of ed at DC side voltage dector 11 (A and D in the drawing). Consequency, their mean values are greatly different, and a big difference output appears in comparator 10. For this reason, it is possible to send out a failure detection signal by operating output relay 17.
